Warehouse Operative £12.99 - £13.23 per hour, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm, 40 hours per week, Permanent, 23 days holiday including 3 allocated Christmas shutdown days, Overtime at 1.5x rate, Pension The Role An opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Operative to join an established food manufacturing business in Burgess Hill. Reporting to the Technical & Supply Chain Director, the Warehouse Operative will be responsible for receiving deliveries, maintaining stock accuracy and ensuring the factory is supplied with the ingredients, packaging and materials needed to meet production demands. This is a varied, hands-on role combining forklift driving, warehouse administration, stock control and production support within a busy manufacturing environment. Receiving and unloading incoming deliveries using a counterbalance forklift Completing daily forklift safety checks and reporting any faults Checking deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes Carrying out relevant quality checks on incoming materials Completing digital goods-in records using tablets and warehouse systems Labelling, rotating and storing stock in the correct warehouse locations Picking ingredients and loading them onto cages or trolleys for production Preparing packaging materials and consumables for the Packing team Recording issued and returned materials, quantities and relevant lot numbers Supporting stock takes, demand planning and procurement activities Highlighting stock that has reached its agreed reorder point Maintaining accurate traceability, stock and wastage records Restocking factory supplies and supporting the Dispatch team when required Maintaining clean, organised and audit-ready warehouse and yard areas Following food safety, hygiene, allergen, quality and health and safety proceduresRequirements The successful Warehouse Operative will have previous experience within a warehouse, goods-in, manufacturing or production environment, which is highly desirable. Counterbalance forklift experience is essential, although candidates who require a refresher course will be considered. A full UK driving licence is essential. Experience with stock control, delivery documentation and warehouse administration would be highly desirable, along with good IT, numeracy and literacy skills. Knowledge of food hygiene or experience within a food manufacturing environment would be desirable. You will be reliable, organised and able to manage changing priorities while working independently and as part of a team. This role could suit someone who has worked as a Goods-In Operative, Forklift Driver or Stores Operative.
