What You Will Be Doing\n As a Field Applications Engineer, you will bridge the gap between core engineering development and client-facing technical support. \n\n • Application Development: Use Python, Git, and Jupyter Notebooks to conduct experiments, analyse data, and build prototypes or proof-of-concept demonstrations.\n, • Customer Collaboration: Interact directly with international clients and partners, translating their technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.\n, • On-Site & Remote Support: Deliver technical demonstrations, set up field trials, and troubleshoot products both remotely and on-site.\n, • Global Travel: Travel internationally (across Europe, the US, and Asia) to support projects, client engagements, and exhibitions.\n, • Technical Documentation: Produce clear, comprehensive technical reports, lab notes, user documentation, and presentation materials.\nKey Requirements\n To be successful in this role, you must possess: \n\n • Degree Qualification: A graduate degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related scientific discipline.\n, • Essential Python & Data Skills: Strong practical familiarity using Python (alongside Git and Jupyter Notebooks) for problem-solving, data analysis, or prototyping.\n, • Scientific & Hardware Aptitude: A solid scientific background with the ability to interpret complex technical challenges and demonstrate hardware solutions.\n, • Excellent Communication: Flawless written and verbal English skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences clearly.\n, • Flexibility for Travel: Willingness and capability to undertake domestic and international travel, occasionally at short notice, once fully onboarded.\n, • Analytical Mindset: A practical, hands-on approach to troubleshooting, experimentation, and keeping meticulous technical notes.\nDesirable Experience (Not Essential)\n While this is an entry-level position and full training is provided, exposure to any of the following is advantageous: \n\n • Computer vision, image processing, photonics, or optical systems.\n, • Laboratory experimentation, field trials, or prototype testing.\n, • Experience working in customer-facing environments or research collaborations.\nWorking Pattern & Onboarding\n\n, • Hybrid Model: Based in the UK, working 3 days per week in the office/laboratory to access specialized equipment, combined with home working and international travel as required.\n, • Structured Growth: Month 1 focuses on technical onboarding and product familiarity.
