Trainee Estimator / Estimator – Bedford \n A leading flooring subcontractor in Bedford has an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator or Estimator to join their commercial team. They are financially strong, expanding, and known for exceptional quality and service. This is a great role for someone who wants to learn, progress and grow in a fast-paced commercial environment. \n You will be joining a team of six, consisting of two Business Development Managers and four Estimators. They operate across Airports, Healthcare, Defence, Leisure, Commercial, Hotels, Education and Residential, delivering first-class installations on time, every time. \n They work with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Contractors and have a strong presence across London and the Home Counties. The commercial team enjoys a great working environment with plenty of experience, support, banter and regular social activities. Everyone gets along well, and there is always lots happening socially. \n Projects typically range between £5,000 and £2,000,000. \n The Role – Trainee Estimator / Estimator \n This is a full-time, office-based role with regular site visits. You will assist with and develop skills in: \n\n • Reviewing drawings and specifications\n, • Quantity take-offs\n, • Preparing estimates and costings\n, • Pricing bills of quantities and producing lump-sum tenders\n, • Supplier and subcontractor enquiries\n, • Comparing quotations and supporting procurement\n, • Assisting with tender submissions\n, • Supporting contract administration and commercial reporting\n, • Carrying out site surveys 1–2 times per week\n, • Working on projects requiring security clearance\n\n You will typically manage 7–8 live tenders at any one time, valued between £50,000 and £1.5m. \n This role is suitable for: \n\n • Trainees\n, • Candidates looking for a career change\n, • Experienced Estimators\n\n The Right Person – Trainee Estimator / Estimator \n\n • 5 GCSEs including a C in Maths\n, • Must be able to drive\n, • Good attention to detail\n, • Able to juggle multiple tenders and deadlines in a high-pressure environment\n, • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel\n, • Strong organisational and communication skills\n, • Able to work independently and within a team\n, • Experience in negotiation is beneficial\n, • Comfortable working on security-cleared projects (training provided)\n\n Working Hours \n 8.30am – 5.00pm Hybrid working available after a training period. \n How to Apply \n Please contact Sally to apply for this opportunity.
