Role overviewAs a Senior Business Systems Administrator, you will play a critical role in the ownership, design, and evolution of Tes’ customer‑ and business‑critical platforms. You will be accountable for ensuring these systems are secure, resilient, and scalable, while proactively shaping how technology enables business strategy and customer experience.Bringing deep technical expertise and commercial awareness, you will act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, lead complex system changes and integrations end‑to‑end, and provide expert‑level support for high‑impact incidents. You will also influence platform strategy, mentor less‑experienced colleagues, and drive continuous improvement through automation, optimisation, and adoption of best practice.Key ResponsibilitiesPlatform Ownership & OperationsOwn the reliable, secure, and performant operation of key business and customer‑facing systemsEnsure systems meet availability, security, compliance, and data integrity standardsLead investigation and resolution of complex, high‑severity incidents and root‑cause analysisProactively identify and mitigate technical debt, risks, and performance issuesParticipate in and help shape on‑call support and escalation processesDesign, Delivery & ChangeLead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimisation of complex systems, configurations, and integrationsTranslate business strategy and requirements into robust, scalable technical solutionsAct as a senior technical contributor on projects, providing design authority and assurancePlan and execute system upgrades, releases, and major configuration changes with minimal disruptionEnsure appropriate testing, quality assurance, release management, and documentation practices are followedStrategy & Continuous ImprovementContribute significantly to platform strategy, roadmap definition, and technology directionEvaluate new tools, features, and technologies, making evidence‑based recommendationsDrive automation, scripting, and process improvements to increase efficiency and reliabilityPromote and embed best practice in systems administration, security, and service managementStay current with industry trends and apply relevant innovations to improve Tes’ platforms and servicesCollaboration & LeadershipAct as a senior point of escalation for technical advice and decision‑makingBuild strong relationships with business, product, delivery, and third‑party partnersMentor and support junior and mid‑level administrators, sharing knowledge and raising capability across the teamContribute to standards, patterns, and documentation that support consistency and scalabilityWhat will you need to succeed?ExperienceSignificant hands‑on experience in a Senior Systems Administration or similar roleProven experience supporting and enhancing business‑critical platforms such as CRM, finance systems, and/or contact centre technologiesDemonstrable experience leading complex system changes, integrations, or migrationsExperience operating within change‑controlled, service‑oriented environmentsKnowledgeDeep knowledge of systems administration principles, including security, access control, data governance, resilience, and lifecycle managementStrong understanding of how enterprise platforms support end‑to‑end customer journeys and business processesGood awareness of service management frameworks, cloud/SaaS operating models, and modern integration patternsSkillsExpert‑level troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to lead resolution of complex technical issuesStrong solution‑design capability, balancing technical quality with business valueExcellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, able to influence at all levelsAbility to mentor others, provide technical leadership, and work autonomously with minimal supervisionStrong documentation, testing, and change‑management disciplineQualificationsDegree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experienceRelevant professional or vendor certifications (e.g. CRM platforms, cloud technologies, ITIL) are highly desirableWhat do you get in return? 25 days annual leave rising to 30 5% pension after probationState of the art offices Access to a range of benefits via My Benefits World Free eye care cover Life Assurance Cycle to Work Scheme EAP (Employee assistance programme) Quarterly Tes Socials Access to an extensive Learning and Development menu Who are Tes?Tes is a global Edtech leader, on a mission to empower schools and educators to deliver impactful, inspiring learning experiences worldwide.
