The Boathouse, Amberley, West Sussex £50,000 plus tronc On-site accommodation available The Boathouse is a new independent riverside caffè, bar and trattoria opening this September beside the River Arun, with sweeping views across the South Downs National Park. We are looking for a confident and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen and help shape the food from day one. The cooking will be simple, seasonal and Italian in spirit, centred around excellent ingredients and a concise menu that changes daily. Expect handmade pasta, fish and meat from the grill, cicchetti, focaccia and unfussy desserts. This is not a kitchen interested in unnecessary garnish or complicated menus. You will have the freedom to build the kitchen culture, work closely with the owner, develop trusted supplier relationships and create the kind of food people want to return for regularly. What we are looking for A calm, organised and hands-on Head Chef with strong standards, sound commercial awareness and the confidence to lead a small team. You should enjoy cooking, training others and being present in the kitchen rather than managing from an office. Experience with Italian or Mediterranean food is helpful, but good judgement, leadership and a genuine understanding of simple cooking are more important. What we offer £50,000 salary plus tronc, on-site accommodation, input into the menu and kitchen setup, and the opportunity to shape an ambitious independent restaurant from the beginning. The Boathouse is one minute from Amberley railway station, with direct connections towards London, Arundel and the South Coast.
