Job Purpose The Housekeeping Porter plays an important role in supporting the Housekeeping team to maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation throughout the hotel. The role involves ensuring housekeeping teams have the linen, supplies and equipment required to complete their duties efficiently, while also maintaining clean and safe back-of-house and public areas. The successful candidate should be organised, reliable, physically capable of carrying out manual tasks and willing to support the wider hotel team when required. Key Responsibilities • Deliver clean linen, towels and other housekeeping supplies to the required floors and housekeeping areas throughout the shift., • Collect used and soiled linen from housekeeping areas and ensure it is transferred to the designated storage or collection area safely and efficiently., • Maintain appropriate linen levels on each floor to support housekeepers in completing rooms efficiently., • Assist with receiving, organising and distributing linen deliveries., • Keep linen rooms, housekeeping cupboards, corridors and other designated back-of-house areas clean, tidy and organised., • Remove rubbish, empty waste and dispose of items correctly in accordance with hotel procedures., • Assist Housekeeping team members with heavier or bulky items when required, including moving linen, supplies, equipment and other approved hotel items., • Ensure housekeeping trolleys, equipment and storage areas are maintained safely and do not create hazards for guests or team members., • Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, health and safety concerns or hazards promptly to the appropriate manager., • Report any lost property found while carrying out duties and follow the hotel's lost property procedure., • Ensure chemicals and cleaning equipment are handled and stored safely in accordance with hotel procedures and COSHH requirements., • Respond promptly to reasonable requests from Housekeeping Supervisors and Hotel Management., • Support the Housekeeping team during busy periods to help ensure rooms and hotel areas are prepared within required timescales., • Maintain professional behaviour when working in guest-facing areas and minimise disruption to guests., • Follow hotel security procedures, including ensuring staff-only and storage areas remain secure where required., • Follow all company policies relating to health and safety, fire safety, manual handling and safe working practices. Standards & Expectations The Housekeeping Porter is expected to: • Arrive for shifts on time and ready to work., • Maintain a professional and positive attitude., • Work efficiently and manage workload according to operational priorities., • Communicate effectively with Housekeeping Supervisors, managers and other departments., • Complete allocated duties within reasonable timescales., • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation., • Follow reasonable management instructions., • Work safely and consider the safety of guests and colleagues at all times., • Demonstrate teamwork and a can-do attitude., • Take responsibility for reporting problems rather than leaving them unresolved. Skills & Attributes The ideal candidate will: • Be reliable, punctual and organised., • Be comfortable completing physically demanding duties, including moving linen and supplies., • Be able to work independently and as part of a team., • Have good attention to detail., • Be able to prioritise tasks in a busy hotel environment., • Communicate clearly with colleagues and management., • Understand the importance of guest service and maintaining hotel standards., • Be willing to assist other members of the Housekeeping team when reasonably required. Health & Safety The Housekeeping Porter must carry out all duties safely and in accordance with company procedures. Appropriate manual-handling techniques must be followed when moving linen, equipment or other heavy items. Any accident, injury, damaged equipment, obstruction or potential health and safety hazard must be reported immediately to management. ##
