Category Manager - FMCG, Buying \n Category Manager - FMCG, Buying \n \n The location of the role is Bradford (onsite). \n The position is permanent. \n The salary on offer is £55 - £65k per annum. \n \n This role is working at a leading UK wholesale and retail business. \n \n Role Summary: \n We are currently looking to appoint a Category Manager who will be responsible for the delivery of Category Plans that maximise sales and profit for both our business and customers. The role encompasses all aspects of Category Management including ranging, pricing, strategy development, supplier management, promotional planning and securing income for marketing and media support. \n \n The Category Manager will also mentor and develop Category Assistants and oversee the Category specific activities of Category Assistants. \n \n Key accountabilities of the role \n\n • Ensure all activities and decisions support achievement and delivery of the budget for sales, wholesale margin, retail POR and cash profit\n, • Use sound commercial reasoning and influence to ensure that availability is maximised across product categories\n, • Working closely with suppliers to generate Joint Business Plans\n, • Effective focus and management of internal and external stakeholder relationships\n, • Creation and implementation of Category strategy, to include the delivery of Category plans to ensure that financial targets are met\n, • Negotiating income from suppliers for media promotional support and specific initiatives\n, • Ranging and pricing of all products in line with current pricing policy and business strategy\n, • Planning and communicating requirements for seasonal promotional events and corporate initiatives across the supply base and via internal departments\n, • Range management and development - identifying gaps, reviewing the current range status, liaising with key suppliers, and managing the price proposition\n, • Define and manage the strategy for Own Brand to ensure the Category has the correct balance of branded and own brand products to deliver a commercially sound range/portfolio\n, • Ensuring that admin tasks for the specific Category are completed correctly and on time\n, • Accurately analysing promotional effectiveness and forecasts for specific product categories\n\n \n Key skills and experience \n\n • Experience in FMCG Wholesale or Retail sector (Buying Sales or Category Management)\n, • The ability to confidently demonstrate tenacity, determination, and assertiveness in pursuit of a commercially successful outcome, managing conflict where necessary\n, • The ability to build relationships internally and externally using effective influencing skills\n, • A strong and effective negotiator\n, • Experience of creating and delivering Category Strategy and promotional plans\n, • Numerate, with experience of analysing performance and market data\n, • Problem solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement\n\n

A rare opportunity to take full commercial ownership of a fresh produce category within a major UK grocery retail environment. Trading Manager - Fruit / Fresh Produce Yorkshire area Permanent Hybrid/onsite pattern: on-site four days per week Package: c.£55,000-£65,000 depending on experience + £5.7k cash allowance + bonus + benefits The Opportunity We're supporting a major UK grocery retailer with multiple Trading Manager vacancies across fresh fruit / produce categories. These are broad category ownership roles, covering the retail proposition, procurement strategy, supplier base, commercial performance and seasonal trading across key produce areas. You will be responsible for how your category performs commercially, how it is positioned for customers, how suppliers are selected and managed, and how seasonal movement, availability, quality, margin and price competitiveness are balanced. The core roles sit across fresh fruit categories, with scope varying by category area. One role may also include retail-side responsibility for a related seasonal grocery category, working closely with a separate specialist procurement team. This is a fast-paced, commercial role where decisions matter quickly. You will work closely with retail, procurement, supplier and grower-facing teams to keep the customer proposition and supply strategy joined up. Key Responsibilities Own the commercial performance of a fresh produce category, balancing sales, margin, availability, value and customer quality. Build and deliver category plans across range, pricing, promotions, supplier base and seasonal trading. Shape the procurement approach and supplier strategy for your core produce category. Manage seasonal plans, crop transitions, commodity movement and supply risk. Work closely with internal teams, suppliers and growers to make joined-up trading decisions. Use sales, margin, SKU and supplier data to identify opportunities and improve category performance. What We're Looking For You'll need a strong commercial background in fresh produce, fresh food, grocery trading, buying, procurement or fast-moving short-shelf-life categories. Fresh produce experience would be ideal, but the client is open to people coming from either the supplier side or retail side. You do not need to have done both from day one if you have the commercial judgement, pace and curiosity to learn the missing side. This could suit someone with experience as a Trading Manager, Buying Manager, Category Buyer, Commercial Manager, Procurement Manager, Senior Buyer, Produce Buyer or supplier-side Commercial Manager. You're likely to do well here if you enjoy pace, numbers, supplier conversations, seasonal complexity and taking ownership of commercial decisions. Why Join? Our client is a well-established M&E building services contractor with a current turnover of approximately £4m, delivering D&B projects across the region. Following a recent acquisition, the business is entering an exciting period of planned growth, with turnover expected to increase to around £10m. As part of this expansion, they are looking to appoint an M&E Project Manager with an electrical bias to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of building services projects. The role will be primarily office-based, with regular site visits as required. Role Overview This is a hands-on Project Manager position where you will take responsibility for the full lifecycle delivery of M&E projects, with a particular emphasis on electrical services. Projects are typically within the £500k to £1m range and will require close coordination of commercial, technical and operational elements from pre-start through to final handover.
