Application Support Engineer (AVP) - Cash Equities \n London (100% office) 12 months (initial) Competitive (Via Umbrella) \n Overview \n We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (AVP level) to join a high-performing Application Production Support (APS) team within a leading global investment bank in London. \n You will play a critical role supporting a low-latency Cash Equities trading platform, working directly alongside front office traders, quants, and developers to ensure stability, performance, and continuous improvement of a mission-critical execution environment. \n This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to high-frequency trading systems, global markets, and cutting-edge real-time technologies in a fast-paced environment. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Provide hands-on Level 1/2/3 support for the Cash Equities Execution platform\n, • Sit directly with High Touch and Low Touch trading desks, supporting real-time trading activity\n, • Monitor system health, performance, and trading flows across global markets\n, • Develop and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks\n, • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and deliver timely resolution\n, • Own and manage incident lifecycle, including detailed post-incident reporting\n, • Collaborate closely with Front Office developers, quants, and BA teams\n, • Support production releases and deployments, ensuring minimal disruption\n, • Automate manual processes using scripting to improve efficiency and reliability\n, • Maintain and improve operational documentation (runbooks, procedures, tools)\n, • Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as part of a global support model\n\n Required Skills & Experience \n\n • Strong experience supporting trading systems or low-latency platforms\n, • Solid expertise in Unix/Linux environments and system-level troubleshooting\n, • Proficient in at least one scripting/programming language (e.g. Python, Bash, Go)\n, • Experience with monitoring & observability tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana)\n, • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, latency, etc.)\n, • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, distributed systems under pressure\n, • Experience working in production support / SRE / APS environments\n\n Desirable Experience \n\n • Exposure to electronic trading, equities, or financial markets\n, • Experience with log management tools (Splunk, OpenSearch)\n, • Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, Tibco, Solace)\n, • Familiarity with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, KDB/q)\n, • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g. Corvil)\n, • Infrastructure-as-Code exposure (e.g. Ansible)\n, • Background in high-availability, high-throughput environments\n\n Personal Profile \n\n • Strong client focus and ability to interact with front office stakeholders\n, • Excellent problem-solving and analytical mindset\n, • Highly organised and detail-oriented\n, • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure\n, • Strong communicator - able to clearly explain technical issues\n, • Team player with flexibility to adapt in fast-moving environments\n\n Why Join? \n\n • Work directly with front office trading desks and quants\n, • Exposure to cutting-edge trading systems and high-frequency environments\n, • Opportunity to be part of a globally distributed APS/SRE team\n, • Gain deep insight into financial markets and execution platforms\n\n \n \n Guidant, Carbon60, Lorien & SRG - The Impellam Group Portfolio are acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
