SENIOR QS ROLE AT ELMCROFT CONSTRUCTION LTD: \n \n Role Overview \n Supporting the business to improve profitability through cost reduction and project efficiency. Protecting the business through contract scrutiny and administration. Working with the various departments within the business to minimise risk and exposure to the business throughout the project lifecycle. \n Be accountable for commercial performance of projects and work with project managers to ensure variations and valuations are agreed and administered correctly. Always striving to strike the right balance between client relationships and protecting the interests of the company. \n \n Typical Hours \n Your normal hours of work are 40 per week. \n You may be required to work additional hours to those stated above from time to time to ensure that workload and deadlines committed to are met fully. \n \n Key Responsibilities and Tasks: \n\n • Acting as the qualified Commercial lead.\n, • Responsible for the overall financial performance of all projects.\n, • Keep a close eye on the finances of each project, work with the project teams on all contractual matters and ensure that the financial position is controlled effectively.\n, • Working closely with the Project Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the contract specification.\n, • Working closely with the Project Managers to ensure client satisfaction and optimisation of resources.\n, • Identify, notify and price all variations immediately upon change event.\n, • Submit variations within agreed internal timeframe.\n, • Ensure no commercial entitlement is lost through delay or poor administration.\n, • Maintain a live variation tracker for every project.\n, • Agree contractual dates for raising applications for payments (AFPs) to clients, and ensuring AFPs are correctly raised to clients within agreed dates.\n, • Take full ownership of all Applications for Payment, ensuring 100% submission by contractual deadline and in line with company EOM procedures.\n, • Track payment valuation dates and deadlines, and liaise with Client QS’s and internal finance department to ensure process followed through and invoices raised accordingly.\n, • Manage the Retention tracker and ensure retention amounts are being applied for on the appropriate date.\n, • Chase up clients on commercial deadlines through standardised commercial letters.\n, • Ensuring adherence to H&S policies and procedures internally.\n, • Carrying out client meetings and site inspections.\n, • Maintain good relationships with principal contractors, suppliers, auditors, clients, H&S authorities.\n, • Procurement and commercial management of subcontractor packages where required.\n, • Ensuring subcontractor contracts mirror main contract risk position.\n, • Monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) reporting.\n, • Accurate commercial file maintenance.\n, • Weekly reporting to Financial Controller and Operations Director.\n, • Taking part in weekly project meetings working closely with the Financial Controller.\n, • Ensuring regular reporting on KPIs and numbers.\n, • Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Directors or Board.\n\n \n Role KPIs: \n\n • Project profitability in line with budget.\n, • Ensuring no project claim is left on the table whilst maintaining great client relationships.\n, • Retentions collected on time.\n, • Reduced value of amounts withheld on projects.\n, • Development of less commercially aware staff.\n\n \n Commercial Behaviour Expectations (aligns with our values) \n\n • Takes total ownership of commercial performance.\n, • Relentless focus on protecting and increasing GP%.\n, • Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.\n, • Proactive and commercially assertive with clients.\n, • Solutions-driven approach to disputes.\n, • High attention to detail and financial accuracy.\n, • Loyal to company and aligned with core values.\n\n \n Person Specification \n\n • Able to work with client contacts and build strong professional relationships.\n, • Lead and guide operatives to ensure productivity and quality of work is mastered.\n, • Knowledge of the Construction industry and specifically Ground working essential.\n, • Experience in a QS or Commercial Manager role essential.\n, • Full and clean driving license essential.\n\n \n Hours and Salary package: \n\n • £95,000 to £110,000\n, • EBITDA Share GBS Bonus scheme\n, • 20 days holiday plus B/H\n, • 07:30 am – 16.30 pm\n\n
