You will be responsible for developing and integrating vehicle systems and components, ensuring that their design, performance, and interfaces meet the overall vehicle requirements. The role requires a strong understanding of vehicle-level requirements and the ability to translate them into technical and design requirements for systems and components. You will analyse component datasheets, define technical specifications, perform engineering modeling, and support the selection, design, integration, and validation of components such as fuel-cell systems, high-voltage batteries, electric motors, DC/DC converters, and power distribution units. Depending on your area of expertise, you will work in one of the following fields: - Fuel Cell Systems - High-Voltage Battery Systems - Electric Motors and Motor Control - DC/DC Converters - Power Distribution Units Main activities: 1. Requirements Definition Define vehicle and component technical requirements. Translate vehicle performance, energy, safety, and operational needs into design specifications. Define functional, electrical, mechanical, thermal, control, and communication requirements. Ensure consistency and traceability between vehicle requirements, system requirements, and component specifications. 2. Component Analysis and Selection Analyse and interpret technical datasheets, specifications, and supplier documentation. Evaluate components according to vehicle performance, power, energy, efficiency, thermal, safety, packaging, and integration requirements. Compare technical solutions and perform engineering trade-off studies. Identify technical limitations, risks, and design gaps. 3. System Design and Integration Design and develop vehicle systems within the assigned technical area. Interpret and develop electrical schematics, system diagrams, and technical drawings. Ensure correct integration with other vehicle systems and subsystems. Work closely with vehicle architecture, mechanical, electrical, software, control, safety, and validation teams. 4. Engineering Calculations and System Modelling Perform calculations for system sizing, power, energy, efficiency, thermal performance, electrical loads, and operating limits. Analyse vehicle duty cycles and component operating conditions. Support the optimisation of vehicle energy consumption, performance, and efficiency. Develop or use system models to evaluate different component configurations and control strategies. 5. High-Voltage System Development Support the design and integration of high-voltage vehicle systems. Define voltage, current, power, insulation, protection, grounding, and safety requirements. Ensure compatibility between high-voltage components and the overall vehicle electrical architecture. Expected Knowledge The candidate is expected to have knowledge in one or more of the following areas: -Fuel-cell systems and balance of plant. -Lithium-ion batteries and battery management systems. -Electric motors, inverters, and motor-control principles. -DC/DC power converters and power electronics. -High-voltage power distribution and protection systems. -Electrical and electronic vehicle systems. -High-voltage safety and electrical protection. -Energy management and vehicle power flows. -Requirements engineering and technical specification development. -Component sizing and engineering calculations. -Vehicle communication networks and control interfaces.
