Job Description Job Summary The Food Prep Aide assists in preparing, portioning, and distributing nutritious meals and snacks for preschool children. This role ensures strict compliance with state health regulations, early childhood nutrition guidelines (such as CACFP), and individual child allergy protocols while maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities • Meal Preparation & Portioning, • Wash, peel, chop, and portion foods into age-appropriate, child-safe sizes to prevent choking hazards., • Prepare daily breakfasts, lunches, and snacks following established menus and nutrition guidelines., • Package food into classroom delivery carts according to daily center schedules., • Allergy & Dietary Compliance, • Review daily classroom dietary manifests to accurately prepare meals for children with severe allergies, food sensitivities, or special diets., • Execute strict cross-contamination prevention protocols in all preparation, cooking, and storage zones., • Sanitation & Food Safety, • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, cookware, and prep surfaces throughout the shift., • Monitor and log food temperatures, as well as refrigerator and freezer temperatures, per health department requirements., • Maintain clean, organized pantry and storage areas using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation., • Classroom Logistics, • Deliver meal trays and snack carts to classrooms on time; retrieve used carts and dishware promptly after meals., • Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, or safety hazards immediately to management. Qualifications & Requirements • High school diploma or GED equivalent., • Valid Food Handler Certification (ServSafe or local equivalent)., • Minimum of 1 year of food preparation experience (experience in a school or daycare setting preferred)., • Knowledge of choking hazard guidelines for toddlers and young children., • Successful completion of required state background checks, fingerprinting, and medical/TB clearances.
