The Role As Sous Chef, you'll be the Head Chef's right hand and a key leader within the kitchen. You'll help deliver exceptional food every service while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and organisation. You'll lead by example, support and develop the kitchen team, and take ownership of the kitchen whenever the Head Chef is away. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys leading from the front, thrives in a busy service, and takes real pride in producing outstanding food. The Responsibilities Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen Leading services and ensuring every dish leaves the kitchen to the highest standard Coaching, developing, and motivating junior chefs and kitchen porters Maintaining exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency Managing ordering, stock control, stock rotation, and minimising waste Supporting menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe consistency Ensuring all food safety, HACCP, allergen, and health & safety standards are met at all times Managing labour effectively and supporting kitchen rota planning Maintaining excellent cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen Building strong working relationships with front of house to deliver exceptional guest experiences Taking ownership of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence Just being absolutely sound Wants (Desirable Skills/Experience) Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef in a high-quality pub or restaurant Excellent knowledge of fresh food and high-volume service Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop others Organised, calm under pressure, and solutions-focused Good commercial awareness, including GP, labour, and stock management Level 2 Food Safety qualification (Level 3 desirable) A genuine passion for hospitality and cooking Someone who leads through actions, not titles How We Work at All the Best We hire people who care.
