Assistant Production Manager (Nightshift) \n Location: Snodland, Kent \n Job Type: Full time, Permanent \n Salary - Up to £45,000 plus shift allowance \n Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off (6pm - 6am) \n \n Alexander Steele is partnering with a leading Manufacturing business based in Kent, who are looking to hire an Assistant Production Manager. You’ll be responsible for leading and developing a team on shift to meet production, quality, and safety targets while driving continuous improvement on the line. \n \n Responsibilities \n\n • Oversee daily production activities to meet planned targets.\n, • Allocate manpower and resources efficiently across production lines.\n, • Minimize downtime through proactive coordination with maintenance and quality teams.\n, • Drive initiatives for productivity improvement, waste reduction, and resource optimization.\n, • Ensure accurate recording of production data, material usage, and finished goods in ERP systems.\n, • Monitor key performance indicators (output, efficiency, waste, downtime) and provide timely reports.\n, • Validate system transactions to maintain data integrity for inventory and traceability.\n, • Manage material returns and reconciliation at shift end.\n, • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to maintain inventory accuracy and reduce variances.\n, • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and quality standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP).\n, • Conduct regular safety checks and implement corrective actions promptly.\n, • Maintain accurate and audit-ready records for production, safety, and quality compliance.\n, • Ensure SOPs, checklists, and logs are updated and properly stored.\n, • Lead and motivate the production team to achieve operational goals.\n\n \n Skills and Experience \n\n • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or FMCG, including supervisory or managerial roles.\n, • Strong understanding of ERP systems and production reporting.\n, • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n, • Knowledge of health and safety, quality standards, and compliance requirements.\n, • Experience with warehouse management systems.\n
