Apprentice AI Engineer \n\n • Location: Guildford, Office based\n, • Job Type: Full-time, Apprenticeship\n, • 18-month fixed term contract \n\n A new exciting AI Apprenticeship opportunity has become available working with a fast-growing start-up who are at the forefront of intelligent interaction for accounting, blending machine learning, natural language processing, and human-centred design to create autonomous systems that redefine engagement with technology. \n This role is perfect for someone eager to apply AI and automation to enhance customer experiences, with a focus on hands-on delivery and technical growth. \n Day-to-day Responsibilities & Duties of the Role: \n\n • AI Discovery & Evaluation:\n \n, • Identify opportunities for AI and automation within the product stream, ensuring responsible use that balances efficiency with fairness and transparency.\n, • Evaluate AI models, tools, and platforms, recommending options to senior colleagues.\n, • Support the design and delivery of AI solution design sessions and discovery workshops.\n \n, • AI Build & Integration:\n \n, • Design and test conversational bot interactions and automated workflows.\n, • Integrate AI capabilities into products using APIs and connect tools and data sources under guidance.\n, • Develop, document, and test AI-enabled workflows, ensuring outputs are controlled and safe.\n \n, • Quality, Evaluation & Reporting:\n \n, • Define acceptance criteria for AI features and support business acceptance.\n, • Build and run evaluations of AI outputs, tuning prompts and configurations to improve performance.\n, • Monitor AI features, refine automations using end-user feedback, and report on improvements.\n \n, • Documentation, Adoption & Change:\n \n, • Produce technical and end-user documentation for AI features.\n, • Provide training and user guides for adopted AI tools, adapting content to audience needs.\n, • Support change management and adoption as AI features are implemented.\n \n, • Governance & Responsible AI:\n \n, • Ensure compliance with digital ethics, security, and privacy standards for AI.\n, • Support stakeholders with governance, auditing, and safe data handling.\n \n\n Required Skills & Qualifications: \n\n • Foundational understanding of software development and working with APIs.\n, • Interest in large language models, prompt design, and conversational AI/NLP.\n, • Exposure to modern frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript; React, Vue.js or equivalent is an advantage).\n, • Familiarity with version control (Git) and AI automation platforms (desirable).\n, • Appreciation of UX principles and human-centred design.\n, • Eager to learn, with a proactive, problem-solving attitude and a commitment to quality.\n\n Apprenticeship & Support: \n\n • The role is aligned with the AI & Automation Practitioner (Level 4) apprenticeship standard.\n, • You will receive a full induction, structured training plan, regular 1:1s, and mentoring.\n, • Access to data architecture and cloud-based systems will be provided.\n, • Increasing autonomy as competence develops.\n, • You will also report to the Head of Product who will be on hand to support throughout \n\n How to Apply: \n To apply for the Apprentice AI Engineer position, please submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and why you are interested in this position.
