OOOZE is a specialty coffee and toastie venue serving fresh food in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. We are looking for someone who can prepare exceptional espresso-based drinks and consistently great toasties quickly, efficiently, and with a smile.
You will:
- Prepare espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks to a consistently high standard.
- Calibrate grinders and dial in espresso at the start of each shift, adjusting throughout the day as needed.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of espresso extraction, grind adjustment, and milk texturing.
- Prepare toasties and other grill items quickly, safely, and accurately.
- Monitor cooking equipment and follow food safety and hygiene standards.
- Take customer orders, process cash and card payments, and provide excellent service.
- Keep coffee and food preparation areas clean, organised, and ready for service.
- Assist with opening and closing duties and support colleagues during busy periods.
You should have:
- Previous experience as a barista in a specialty coffee environment.
- A strong understanding of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and grinder calibration.
- The ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
- Reliability, punctuality, and availability for a consistent roster.
- Good communication skills in English.
- A self-motivated, positive, and can-do approach.
Experience working with a grill, preparing toasties or sandwiches, or in a high-volume café or fast-casual restaurant is desirable. A passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning is also welcomed.
