Electrical EstimatorDepartment: Pre-Construction / Estimating FM ProjectsRole OverviewThe Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical building services projects within the retail sector. The role will involve pricing works for new store developments, refurbishments, and planned or reactive maintenance projects, ensuring client specifications and commercial requirements are fully understood.The successful candidate will have a minimum of 34 years experience in Electrical estimating, be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working within a fast-paced team environment. The role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to produce accurate costings using Trimble estimating software.This position offers an opportunity for someone who is eager to develop their technical knowledge, improve and set the standard on estimating processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the pre-construction function.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Tender PreparationPrepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical building services projects.Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to fully understand the scope of works.Produce estimates using Trimble estimating software and ExcelCompile material, labour, and subcontractor costings.Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.Prepare tender breakdowns, cost summaries, and value engineering options where required.Technical ReviewReview client specifications to ensure estimates meet technical and compliance requirements.Identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities within tender documents.Liaise with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to clarify project requirements.Collaboration & CommunicationWork closely with the estimating, commercial, and operations teams to support tender submissions.Assist with client queries during the tender process.Attend internal tender review meetings.Process ImprovementContribute to the continuous improvement of estimating procedures and systems.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cost tracking.Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and supplier information.Market & Supplier EngagementDevelop relationships with suppliers and specialist subcontractors.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing and supply chain capabilities.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential5+ years experience in Electrical estimatingExperience pricing building services projectsProficiency using Trimble estimating software / ExcelAbility to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schedulesStrong understanding of electrical building services systemsGood numerical and analytical skillsStrong communication and organisational skillsAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamDesirableHNC/HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Quantity SurveyingExperience within the retail construction or commercial fit-out sectorKnowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, and controls systemsKey Skills & CompetenciesProactive and self-motivated approach to workStrong attention to detailAbility to work to tight tender deadlinesFast learner with the ability to quickly understand client specifications and requirementsProblem-solving mindsetStrong team collaborationDesire to improve processes and contribute to operational efficiencyPersonal AttributesPositive and proactive attitudeEagerness to develop technical and commercial knowledgeCommitment to continuous improvementAbility to work in a fast-paced project environmentTPBN1_UKTJ
