Conveyancing Secretary OR Paralegal\n Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex \n Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum (depending on experience) \n Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role\n We are seeking an organised and proactive Conveyancing Secretary or Paralegal to join our clients busy residential property team in Southend-on-Sea. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal support professional to work within a friendly and established firm, assisting fee earners with a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters. \n The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring transactions progress smoothly while delivering a high standard of client care. Key Responsibilities\n\n • Providing administrative and legal support to conveyancing fee earners.\n, • Preparing correspondence, contracts, transfer deeds and completion statements.\n, • Opening and closing client files in accordance with compliance procedures.\n, • Managing client onboarding, including ID verification and AML checks.\n, • Ordering searches and reviewing search results.\n, • Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and solicitors.\n, • Managing diaries, appointments and key transaction dates.\n, • Preparing SDLT returns and Land Registry applications.\n, • Handling telephone enquiries and providing regular updates to clients.\n, • Maintaining accurate case management records.\n, • Assisting with exchange and completion processes.\n, • Supporting fee earners with post-completion matters where required.\nCandidate Requirements\n Essential: \n\n • Previous experience working within residential conveyancing.\n, • Experience as either a Conveyancing Secretary, Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Paralegal.\n, • Excellent organisational and time management skills.\n, • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.\n, • Ability to manage multiple matters and prioritise workloads effectively.\n, • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.\n, • Confident using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.\n, • Professional and client-focused approach.\n\n Desirable: \n\n • Knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction through to post-completion.\n, • Experience preparing SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications.\n, • Ability to work with minimal supervision.\n, • Legal qualifications (CILEx, LPC or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.\nWhat We Offer\n\n, • Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience.\n, • Friendly and supportive working environment.\n, • Opportunities for career development and progression.\n, • Holiday entitlement plus bank holidays.\n, • Pension scheme.\n, • Ongoing training and professional development.\n, • Convenient Southend location with good transport links.\nWho Should Apply?\n This role would suit someone who has experience as a: \n\n • Conveyancing Secretary\n, • Conveyancing Assistant\n, • Residential Property Paralegal\n, • Legal Assistant (Property)\n, • Conveyancing Administrator looking to progress\n\n If you are an organised legal professional with conveyancing experience and are looking to join a supportive and well-established firm in Southend-on-Sea, we would be delighted to hear from you.
